Imaging Solutions AG (ISAG), the Switzerland-based maker of industrial photo printers and processors for silver halide technology, today announced a strategic initiative to spin off its printer and processor manufacturing and sales division into a new company, GRETAGX. This move aims to expand participation in the post-processing market and strengthen collaboration with the rapidly growing digital printing sector.

GRETAGX will primarily consist of the former Crown Photo Systems GmbH, a wholly previously owned subsidiary of Imaging Solutions AG, and a team of printer and photo paper experienced former employees of Imaging Solutions AG. GRETAGX’s operational focus will be out of Germany and will be a fully autonomous company with its own policies and strategy and will assume full responsibility for all customer relationships and obligations that were previously managed by Imaging Solu:ons AG supplied AgX equipment.

According to a press release, this spin-off will improve the position Imaging Solutions to focus on its core competencies in post-processing equipment, including photo and poster cutters, packers, layflat photobook machines, and canvas stretching machines. As the digital printer market continues to grow and capture a significant share of the graphics and photo market, Imaging Solutions AG recognizes the importance of collaboration with digital printer manufacturers. By spinning off its silver halide printer activities to GRETAGX, the company will foster early involvement in emerging developments within the digital printing industry, the company said.

“We are excited to launch this new venture to better serve our partners and customers in the rapidly evolving printing market,” said Anthony Pieters, CEO of Imaging Solutions AG. “By streamlining our focus, we aim to provide innovative postprocessing solutions that complement the expanding digital printing landscape. “With the launch of GRETAGX, we are dedicated to advancing the legacy of silver halide printing technology,” stated Ralf Plag and Willi Münch, co-CEOs of GRETAGX. “This strategic decision empowers us to focus solely on serving customers who depend on or will choose the distinctive quality and longevity of silver halide prints. Our devoted team is eager to innovate and deliver exceptional service, guaranteeing that our customers can continue to create remarkable print products.

“We will take full responsibility for all customer engagements and obligations previously handled by Imaging Solutions AG. Customers can expect the same, if not enhanced, high standards of service and support they have come to rely on, now under the dedicated management of GRETAGX.”

GRETAGX announced a collaboration with Fujifilm Europe, a leading supplier of AgX photo paper, underscoring the commitment to the market, the company said.
